June 30, 2025 – A man named Bavin (25) shocked police in Kerala by walking into the Pudukad police station with a bag that he said contained bones of two babies. This happened late on June 28 or early June 29. Bavin told the police that he had kept the bones to perform religious rituals for the babies' souls to get "moksha" (peace).

Police quickly began investigating and arrested Bavin and his partner Aneesha (23), who works as a lab technician. Forensic tests confirmed that the bones belonged to human babies. More testing is still going on.
When the police questioned Aneesha, she first said the first baby, born in November 2021, died naturally because the umbilical cord was around the baby’s neck. But later, she confessed that she had suffocated the baby after birth and buried the body near her house. About eight months later, she dug up the bones and gave some to Bavin.
The couple said that the second baby was born in August 2024. Aneesha again killed the baby by covering its mouth to stop it from crying, as she was afraid neighbors would hear. Bavin then buried the second baby near his house. These were the remains he brought to the police.
Police believe Bavin confessed because of fights with Aneesha. He may have thought she was cheating on him. Police are also checking if Aneesha's family knew about her pregnancies or the babies.
The couple met online in 2020 and were living together. Now, they have been charged with murder and other crimes under Indian law, including hiding the births and destroying evidence. A special team of police has been formed to investigate further. The case is difficult because the deaths happened years ago.
