Popular social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, known online as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a parked car near Adesh University, Bhucho Kalan, Bathinda, late Wednesday evening. The Bathinda Police have launched a murder investigation.
The 30-year-old Ludhiana resident, with a strong online presence boasting over 383,000 Instagram followers, had reportedly gone missing after traveling to Bathinda on June 9 for a promotional event. Her family lost contact with her shortly after, according to police.
What We Know So Far
Body Found in Decomposed State
The discovery was made after locals alerted police about a foul odor coming from a car parked near Adesh Hospital. Upon inspection, police recovered Kanchan Kumari’s body from the back seat. Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, no external injuries could be confirmed immediately.
The body has been sent to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The results are expected to provide more clarity on the cause and time of death.
Murder Suspected
According to Superintendent of Police (City), Narinder Singh, early investigations suggest murder. Police believe the body may have been dumped in the car post-mortem. Authorities are also examining whether the registration number plate on the vehicle is fake, and have reached out to transport departments for verification.
“Prima facie, it appears someone abandoned the car here after committing the crime,” SP Singh said.
