June 26, 2025 – India continues to manage a low but consistent number of COVID-19 cases, with official figures from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) showing 3,625 active cases as of 8:00 AM IST today, June 26, 2025.
The latest dashboard indicates 22,915 individuals have been discharged after recovering from the infection since January 1, 2025.
While the overall numbers remain relatively low compared to previous waves, some states are reporting a higher concentration of active cases. Kerala currently has the highest active caseload at 740, followed by West Bengal with 747 active cases, and Gujarat with 454 active cases. Delhi reports 428 active cases.
According to the MoHFW dashboard, there have been 64 deaths since January 1, 2025. Specific details regarding recent deaths indicate:
- Kerala: 1 death (82-year-old female with Cerebral Oedema, CAD).
- Maharashtra: 3 deaths (including a 35-year-old male with Ca (Mouth) Stage 3, and a 59-year-old male with Systemic hypertension with CKD).
The government's focus remains on continuous monitoring, especially for new variants, and maintaining healthcare preparedness. While there is no widespread panic, health advisories continue to emphasize basic precautions like hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. Experts note that the virus continues to evolve, leading to milder infections for most vaccinated individuals, and that occasional surges are expected as the virus becomes endemic.
The country's robust vaccination drive has played a crucial role in mitigating severe illness, with over 2.2 billion vaccine doses administered to date.
